Missing Dawson Creek man killed in crash

first_imgA missing Dawson Creek man has turned up dead, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. On Monday (April 12th), South Peace Traffic Services and the Chetwynd RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on Highway 97, in the Mount Lemoray area.- Advertisement -Police say the preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle was heading north on a straight stretch of road, when it left the roadway and veered down a steep embankment, before coming to a stop on its roof, in a thick tree-stand.The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and was partially ejected from the vehicle, suffering life-threatening injuries. Police say alcohol and drug use are suspected to have been factors in the crash.Advertisement By Jon Zacks Police have identified the deceased male as Larry Powell, of Dawson Creek. Powell had been reported missing in Dawson Creek on April 3rd, after disappearing on April 1st. Constable Kennedy, of the South Peace Traffic Service, says it appears that the accident happened not long after Powell was last seen. He says the vehicle was hidden in thick brush, and wasn’t spotted until Monday, by someone riding in a greyhound bus. He says an autopsy to be conducted on Wednesday, along with a toxicology report, will determine the final cause of death.last_img read more
