BYU Baseball Visits Loyola Marymount This Weekend

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailLOS ANGELES-Thursday through Saturday, BYU baseball (29-11, 13-5 in West Coast Conference play) visits Loyola Marymount (26-18, 13-8 in WCC play) as they seek to fend off the Lions and Gonzaga (24-17, 15-6 in WCC play) for the conference lead. Brad James Esquerro’s 14 home runs and 48 RBI also lead Loyola Marymount in each category. The Lions lead the all-time series 15-13. The Cougars’ pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.34 (15th in Division I), limits opponents to a batting average of .245, allows 3.9 runs per game, is 15th in the nation with 2.93 walks allowed per game and posts 7.88 strikeouts per game. BYU also has a fielding percentage of .975. Thursday, the Cougars will go with senior Jordan Wood (4-1), Friday, they will ride with Easton Walker (6-0, 0.93 ERA) and Saturday with sophomore Justin Turner (8-3, 2.340 ERA).
