Power tariff hike for farms goes

first_imgRattled by the intensifying agitation of farmers, the BJP government in Rajasthan on Saturday rolled back the increase in power tariff for agricultural consumers and announced that it would increase subsidy on connections to fill the gap, which will cost the exchequer ₹500 crore. The decision, announced by Minister of State for Energy Pushpendra Singh at a press conference here, will benefit about 11.50 lakh farmers, who were being mobilised by the Opposition Congress and CPI(M)-backed All India Kisan Sabha in different parts of the State. After a huge Kisan Sammelan organised at the Krishi Upaj Mandi in Sikar on February 2, the Kisan Sabha had announced a march to Jaipur during the state Assembly’s upcoming Budget session.last_img
