Proud Cordner ready for new Blues era

first_imgThe powerful Roosters back-rower was the logical choice following the representative retirement of long-serving Origin talisman Paul Gallen. The 24-year-old trails only Brad Fittler and current Origin coach Laurie Daley in terms of the youngest Blues Origin skippers but is a natural leader who has long seemed old beyond his years.Addressing media at The Star following the team announcement on Monday night, Cordner said the honour “means the world” to him.And his first call once he spoke to Daley was to his father Chris.”I was on my way home from the [Bulldogs] game [Sunday] night, driving a few of the boys and Laurie’s name came up on the screen,” Cordner said.”I gave him a call back and he let me know he wanted me to be captain. I can’t really describe how I felt at the time. It’s an unbelievable honour. For me it’s one of the highest honours you can get, captaining your state.”Cordner also confessed to a little relief at finally getting the confirmation after his name became linked more strongly to the role amid a host of other worthy candidates such as Aaron Woods, Wade Graham and Josh Jackson.”Just to find out from Laurie was an unbelievable feeling. A lot of joy, maybe a few tears. It’s something I’m very proud of,” he said.”I called my dad straight away…” Cordner’s voice trailed off in a wave of emotion before he added “I need to get myself together a bit! He’s been my number one supporter all my life. He’s just super proud.”Daley said he had no doubts over Cordner’s leadership credentials.”I spoke to Boyd [Sunday] night and asked him whether he’d want the job,” Daley said.”Not all guys are suited to it. Not all guys want the responsibility but he was quite excited and happy that I chose him.”I think he’s a great fit for us because he’s the next generation of player coming through.”Any doubts over Cordner’s passion and dedication for the sky blue jersey – if they existed – could be erased by watching a replay of Game One last year. Cordner broke a sesamoid bone in his toe scoring a crucial first half-try – his team’s only points of the game. The injury put him out for six weeks, including the remainder of the Origin series, but he still finished the match, which ended in a tight 6-4 loss to the Maroons.Cordner said he will look to take some lessons from other leaders he has played under, including the Blues’ most recent skipper who played through plenty of adversity himself through a rugged Origin career.”Past leaders that I’ve had, especially Gal is someone that I looked up to coming through,” Cordner said.”The way he went about his business, he’s tough, he’s resilient, he led by his actions. he’s been an inspiration for this team for a while now and that’s something I looked up to so hopefully I can take some parts out of that and continue to grow myself and find my way.”This will be a younger NSW team than last year with debutant Nathan Peats taking over from veteran Robbie Farah at hooker and 23-year-old Manly tyro Jake Trbojevic’s bench debut essentially taking Gallen’s place in the 17 via a reshuffle from Game 3 last year.”It’s a great team,” Cordner said.”Everyone that’s been selected has been in some great form this year.”Our debutants, Jake Trbojevic and Nathan Peats, they’ve been knocking on the door for a while now and deserve their chance.” Photo: NRL (NSW captain Boyd Cordner will make his first Origin appearance in Game One since the corresponding fixture last year).last_img read more

Hazard finally touches the ball

The Red Bull agitates the transfer market in Europe

first_imgThere are more examples of how Red Bull is signing talent to grow, both in Germany and in Austria. Salzburg has South Korean Hee-chan among its pearls Hwang, who has also made an excellent Champions League and recently strengthened the middle of the Leipzig field with Liverpool’s Nail Keita. With these examples and many others, there is no doubt that in the coming years, the Red Bull will be the protagonist of European football. This hurricane also affects Timo Werner, leading striker of the German team that plays in Leipzig. Atletico and Barcelona have been around for a while and from England they say that Liverpool is also interested in getting their services, although this option seems less likely. Further, Nagelsmann, his coach, is not willing to let it out easily, and less with the leading team in the Bundesliga and in the round of 16 of the champions, where he will face Tottenham de Mourinho. And it turns out that these three players have stirred the market in the Bundesliga, each with a different role. Haaland, one of the big emerging stars of European football this season, has started a domino effect with his signing for Dortmund, which has paid Salzburg 20 million euros for the player. Madrid had his eye on him after his spectacular role in the Champions League (eight goals in six games) but with his arrival at the Borussers, he has opened the door to Alcacer, who in turn, is waiting for what happens with Rodrigo and Gameiro in Valencia, of what Milan does with Piatek or that Barça decides to find a striker to replace Suárez’s loss. Precisely to deal with this company, Dani Olmo has been signed for 30 million from Dinamo Zagreb. A clear sign that the Red Bull wants to rub shoulders with the greats of Europe, swiping teams like City or Barça one of the most precious and future players on the continent. He entered football as a surprise guest and is already one of the kings of the party. Red Bull energy drinks company is making its way on Planet Soccer as one of the great players in the European market in recent times. Leipzig and Salzburg, their two flagships, have specialized in getting young talent, polishing it, and turning their teams into clubs capable of putting the great giants of the Champions in check. Haaland, Timo Werner and now Dani Olmo are the clear examples of the path marked by the sports direction of Red Bull clubs.last_img read more

At what temperature do we begin to release mist through the mouth?

first_imgIf we focus on the ability to expel fog we have to know that this occurs due to the exhalation of water from our body. Everyone knows that we breathe oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. It is not uncommon to think that if our body is made up of 60% water, we also expel some of it. These water molecules condense when they come into contact with colder air, which is known as dew point, and in this way the mist is born. The cold helps this condensation process to occur but it is the reality that causes it. Obviously it is easy to believe that it is more usual to be able to generate fog during a cold day since the humidity is higher at those temperatures, but this fact is not always true.Even if it’s a hot day, if the humidity level is high, you can also see how we generate mist through the mouth. The higher the humidity of the air, the greater its saturation which increases the dew point and what causes us to see fog coming out of our mouth. For this same reason, if the outside weather is dry but cold, we most likely cannot see our breath. Image: iStock The fog is produced due to the exhalation of water from our bodyThe cold helps this process to occur, but it is not always the casecenter_img The cold comes at the least thoughtful moment and that is why we have to put aside our obligations. Despite the outside weather, our daily work forces us to get warm and try to keep ourselves at the best temperature so that nothing stops us. However, there are effects that cannot be avoided at these temperatures. Having a red nose, purple hands or expelling mist through the mouth can be some of the effects generated by the low temperature or not?last_img read more
